In a thrilling 1-0 cross-over win against South Africa this morning NZT, Germany have won the right to face the Vantage Black Sticks in the Women’s World Cup Quarterfinals.

However, the combination of resilient, stubborn defending, great goalkeeping and a smattering of luck meant a low scoring affair, with the lower ranked side gaining a huge amount of international respect for their performance.

“We definitely need to get more out of our penalty corners next time. To be in with a chance of winning this World Cup we have to score more goals.”

They will have a chance to do just that against a spirited Vantage Black Sticks side in a much anticipated Quaterfinal at Wagener Hockey Stadium, Amstelveen. The match will be Live on Spark Sport from 3am Wednesday 13th July NZT.
