The New Zealand Under 21 Men have been narrowly defeated 2-1 by Germany at the Junior World Cup in Lucknow.<br>

Canterbury’s Sam Lane opened the scoring for New Zealand in just the fourth minute when he crashed home from a penalty corner.<br>
<br>
Germany equalised in the 24<sup>th</sup> minute through a field goal from Timm Herzbruch before Anton Boeckel gave his side a 2-1 lead with 20 minutes remaining.<br>
<br>
The Kiwis fought hard in search of another goal but couldn’t find a way past the solid German defence.<br>
<br>
The result sees New Zealand currently third in Pool C with a must win in their next game in order to guarantee a place in the quarter finals.<br>

New Zealand plays its final pool game against Spain at 1:30am on Monday morning (NZ time), with live coverage on SKY Sport.<br>
